Study on the improvement of metabolic pathway changes caused by oxidative stress injury in amateur marathon runners by salidroside
In recent years, the trend of national fitness has been increasingly high, and the number of domestic marathon events and participants has shown a surge. In 2019, a total of 1828 large-scale events were held nationwide, an increase of 15.62% compared to 2018; The cumulative number of participants was 7.1256 million, a year-on-year increase of 22.22% compared to 2018. Marathon has developed into one of the most popular and influential brand events in China. As a classic aerobic endurance exercise, long-term marathon training can reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease and mortality in the human body. However, due to long-term high-intensity exercise, marathon runners may also suffer from heart and kidney injuries, among which oxidative stress may be one of the mechanisms leading to their injuries.
During intense exercise, the body can produce and accumulate a large amount of active free radicals. When they exceed the clearance capacity of the body’s antioxidant defense system, they can cause oxidative stress damage during exercise. The traditional Chinese medicine Rhodiola rosea is a perennial herb or sub shrub of the Rhodiola genus in the family Crassulaceae. According to the “Shennong Bencao Jing” and “Yuewang Medicinal Diagnosis”, Rhodiola rosea has a flat nature and has the effects of lightening the body, strengthening the body, regulating qi and blood, moistening the lungs and kidneys, promoting brain and intelligence, and nourishing and strengthening the body; The active ingredient of Rhodiola rosea is salidroside, which has the positive effects of anti hypoxia, anti free radical, inhibition of intracellular Ca2+concentration increase, regulation of neuroendocrine immune network, acceleration of aerobic metabolism energy supply, enhancement of cardiorespiratory function, and improvement of exercise fatigue. However, its application research in the marathon project has not been reported. Therefore, studying the effects and mechanisms of salidroside on the metabolic capacity of amateur marathon runners during exercise is of great practical significance for improving their physical function, reducing sports injuries, and improving exercise fatigue.
Metabolomics technology is an emerging tool in sports human science research, which has gradually been applied to sports training practice and the mechanism research of sports and health promotion. This technology studies the dynamic changes of endogenous metabolites in the body caused by external stimuli, combined with precise modern analysis methods. With the help of multivariate statistical analysis, it can identify and analyze the relationship between physiological, pathological status, environmental factors and metabolite changes of the research object. It is widely used in phenotype, toxicology, disease-related biomarkers and molecular mechanism research, and has obvious advantages in the overall efficacy evaluation and mechanism research of multi-component and multi-target traditional Chinese medicine.
The aim of this study is to clarify the effects of supplementing salidroside on oxidative stress and myocardial injury in marathon amateur runners during quantitative load exercise, and to elucidate its possible mechanism of action using metabolomics techniques.
Supplementing with salidroside can enhance the antioxidant capacity of marathon amateur runners after quantitative load exercise, improve myocardial injury, and its mechanism may mainly be through promoting the synthesis and utilization of aminoacyl tRNA and other amino acids.
