Study on the Chemical Components of Dendrobium huoshanense
Dendrobium huoshanense is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Orchidaceae family. It has a long history and was first recorded in the Western Han Dynasty’s “Fan Ziji Ran”. Later, the “Mingyi Bie Lu” recorded that “Dendrobium grows on the rocks near the water in the Lu’an Valley…” Its “shape is only about an inch short, like accumulated rice”, commonly known as “Mi Hu”. It is the “most famous Chinese fairy herb” and has the effects of nourishing the stomach, generating fluids, nourishing yin, and clearing heat. Modern research has shown that Dendrobium huoshanense exhibits good biological activity in anti-tumor, hypoglycemic, anti-inflammatory, and hepatoprotective aspects. Huoshan Dendrobium was once listed as a rare and endangered species due to its independent regional distribution and unique intrinsic qualities, resulting in a scarcity of wild resources. After decades and generations of efforts, from seed conservation, technological breakthroughs to industrial development, a 10000 acre cultivation base and a 3000 acre Huoshan Dendrobium Industrial Park have been built, successfully protecting this rare species. With the successful simulation of wild cultivation of Dendrobium huoshanense under the forest, various products using Dendrobium huoshanense as raw material have emerged one after another. Huoshan Dendrobium contains benzyl and flavonoid components. Recently, HPLC-ESI-MSn, TLC and other technologies have successfully identified the characteristic flavonoid component of Huoshan Dendrobium, Xiafota glycoside. However, due to the high price of Dendrobium huoshanense, there is little research on its chemical composition. This article takes Dendrobium huoshanense cultivated under simulated wild forests as the research object, and comprehensively uses various chromatographic separation techniques to separate the chemical components of its ethanol extraction parts, and identifies the compound structure using spectroscopic techniques.
In this experiment, 29 compounds were isolated from Dendrobium huoshanense, a plant belonging to the Orchidaceae family. The types of compounds include dibenzyl, simple phenylpropanoid, lignans and their glycosides, benzoic acid derivatives, etc. Among them, dibenzyl compounds are the main components of various Dendrobium species. Previous studies have shown that these compounds have moderate cytotoxic activity. Eight compounds were isolated from this genus of plants for the first time in the article, revealing to some extent the differences in the pharmacological substance basis between Dendrobium huoshanense and other species of Dendrobium. This study provides reference and guidance for the subsequent research and quality control of active ingredients in Dendrobium huoshanense.
