This product is a chiral β-amino alcohol used as a synthetic structural unit. The present amino alcohol can be used to prepare chiral imines or oxazolidines from ethyl trifluoropyruvate. These intermediates can then be used to synthesize the two enantiomers of alpha-trifluoromethylproline.
