Research on the Chemical Components and Anti inflammatory Activities of Long leaved Purple Pearl
Callicarpa longifolia Lam. is a plant species in the family Verbenaceae, native to Taiwan, Guangdong, and Yunnan in China. It grows in sparse forests on mountain slopes at an altitude of 1400 meters and is also distributed in Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Myanmar, and India. Longye Purple Pearl, also known as Lao Ha Yan, is commonly used as a folk herb in Fujian Province, China. It has a long history of application and has good therapeutic effects. According to the records of “Fujian Folk Herbal Medicine” and “Minnan Folk Herbal Medicine”, Changye Zizhu, also known as Shan loquat and Niu Zhi Huang, is also referred to as wild loquat in the “Chinese Medicinal Plant Atlas”. It has a bitter and pungent taste, a warm nature, and a slight toxicity. It has the effects of dispelling wind and dampness, promoting blood circulation and stopping bleeding, clearing phlegm and relieving cough, detoxifying and killing insects. It is commonly used to treat rheumatic pain, vomiting blood, wind cold cough, insect syndrome and other diseases. Many plants in the Purple Pearl genus are recorded in ancient folk herbs and ethnic medicine books in various regions. There are a total of 46 species of plants in this genus in China, among which more than 20 plants have significant pharmacological effects such as clearing heat, dispelling wind and dampness, and stopping bleeding. Modern research reports that Purple Pearl plants have pharmacological effects such as anti-inflammatory, hemostatic, analgesic, antioxidant, and improving memory impairment.
As a folk medicine, long leaved purple bead has a long history of application and significant therapeutic effects, but there have been few research reports on long leaved purple bead. This article selects the long leaved purple pearl, a plant of the purple pearl genus, as the research object. Based on the research of the purple pearl genus, the aim is to find active ingredients with good anti-inflammatory effects from the long leaved purple pearl, providing certain reference value for the development of anti-inflammatory drugs.
In this experiment, 10 compounds were isolated and identified from long leaved purple pearls, including diterpenes, triterpenes, flavonoids, phenylethanoid glycosides, and aromatic compounds. All 10 compounds were isolated for the first time from long leaved purple pearl. The results of the anti-inflammatory activity experiment indicate that some compounds have certain anti-inflammatory activity, which suggests that Longye Purple Pearl has great potential for development and utilization. By studying the chemical composition and anti-inflammatory activity of long leaved purple pearl, this provides a basis for clarifying the chemical composition and pharmacological substance basis of long leaved purple pearl, and also provides a certain reference for the development and utilization of long leaved purple pearl.
