Il pousse dans les for\u00eats tropicales humides des vall\u00e9es saisonni\u00e8res et sur les pentes des berges des rivi\u00e8res, \u00e0 des altitudes comprises entre 520 et 800 m\u00e8tres. Les recherches modernes ont montr\u00e9 que la plante mellif\u00e8re Kashiwagi contient d'abondants composants chimiques tels que des sesquiterp\u00e8nes, des triterp\u00e8nes, des diterp\u00e8nes et des limono\u00efdes. Certains compos\u00e9s ont de bonnes activit\u00e9s pharmacologiques telles que des effets antibact\u00e9riens, antitumoraux et analg\u00e9siques.
