What is desiccant made of

1、Acidic desiccant: concentrated sulfuric acid, phosphorus pentoxide, used for drying acidic or neutral gases, of which concentrated sulfuric acid can not dry acidic gases of hydrogen sulfide, hydrogen bromide and hydrogen iodide with strong reducing property; phosphorus pentoxide can not dry ammonia;

2、Neutral desiccant: anhydrous calcium chloride, general gas can be dried, but anhydrous calcium chloride can not dry ammonia and ethanol;

3、Alkaline desiccant: soda lime (mixture of CaO and NaOH, KOH), quicklime (CaO), NaOH solid, used for drying neutral or alkaline gas.

Types of food desiccant

1、Lime desiccant
The main component of this desiccant is calcium oxide, and its water-absorbing ability is realized through chemical reaction, so the water absorption is irreversible.

No matter how high or low the humidity of the external environment is, it can keep the moisture absorption capacity greater than 35% of its own weight, and it is more suitable for low temperature preservation, with excellent drying and moisture absorption effect, and the price is low.

However, quicklime produces calcium hydroxide when it encounters water and can release a lot of energy, which can risk explosion in a confined space. If shaken by an external force to increase the contact area, the explosion time will be faster and more rapid. Often happen to hurt the eyes of children or the elderly, has been gradually eliminated.

2, silica gel desiccant

Silica gel is a kind of high microporous structure of water-containing silica, non-toxic, tasteless, odorless, chemically stable, the internal network structure of very fine pores, these pores can absorb water, and through its physical attraction to retain water, with strong hygroscopic properties.

At present, silica gel desiccant is very safe, and it is also the only desiccant that has passed the U.S. FDA certification and can be used directly in contact with medicines.

3、Fiber desiccant
This desiccant is made of pure natural plant fiber through a special process. Among them, especially the laminated fiber desiccant sheet is convenient and practical and does not occupy space.

Its moisture-absorbing capacity reaches 100% of its own weight, which is incomparable to ordinary desiccant. In addition, the product is safe and hygienic with moderate price, which is the ideal choice for many biological, health food and medicine.

4、Montmorillonite desiccant
This desiccant adopts pure natural raw material bentonite, which is green, non-toxic, tasteless and harmless to human body.

5、Calcium chloride desiccant
The main raw material of this desiccant is calcium chloride, which can chemically react water molecules with calcium chloride, absorb moisture from the surrounding environment and turn it into gel to achieve adsorption effect.
The internal material of calcium chloride desiccant is in the form of powder, if children tear open the package of calcium chloride desiccant, the powder of calcium chloride inside is easy to enter into the eyes, which will cause redness and swelling of eyelids, white burns on the cornea and conjunctiva and other symptoms, which will cause corneal leucoma after healing in the light case and affect the eyesight, and in the heavy case, it will cause blindness.
