Es una hierba medicinal \u00fanica en China, distribuida principalmente en Zhejiang, Guangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan, Guizhou y otros lugares. Esta hierba medicinal se registr\u00f3 por primera vez en el \"Shennong Bencao Jing\". Tiene un car\u00e1cter fresco, un sabor amargo y una toxicidad peque\u00f1a. Tiene los efectos de eliminar el calor y desintoxicar, resolver la flema y los n\u00f3dulos, y aliviar el dolor y la hinchaz\u00f3n. Cl\u00ednicamente, se utiliza a menudo para tratar lesiones traum\u00e1ticas, hemiplej\u00eda, artralgia, mordedura de serpiente, dolor, inflamaci\u00f3n, condiloma acuminado, fiebre hemorr\u00e1gica epid\u00e9mica, c\u00e1ncer de mama, c\u00e1ncer de es\u00f3fago, encefalitis japonesa, linfadenitis, paperas y otras enfermedades inflamatorias. Hasta ahora se han aislado 40 flavonoides, de los cuales 14 son flavonoides. Se aislaron e identificaron dos nuevos is\u00f3meros de flavonoides y un compuesto flavonoide, a saber, (+) - flavonoides H de an\u00eds estrellado (1a), (-) - flavonoides H de an\u00eds estrellado (1b), (+) - flavonoides I de an\u00eds estrellado (2a), (-) - flavonoides I de an\u00eds estrellado (2b), y podoverina F (3). Mediante el ensayo de eliminaci\u00f3n de radicales DPPH, se comprob\u00f3 la actividad antioxidante de los compuestos 1, 1a, 1b, 2, 2a y 2b. Los resultados mostraron que los compuestos 2, 2a y 2b ten\u00edan una fuerte capacidad de barrido contra los radicales DPPH y eran m\u00e1s potentes que el f\u00e1rmaco positivo trolox. Los estudios sobre las relaciones estructura-actividad han demostrado que el grupo ortodihidroxi del anillo B es un grupo estructural esencial para que los flavonoides presenten actividad de barrido de radicales DPPH.
