Atherosklerose ist eine multifaktorielle Erkrankung, an der chronische Entz\u00fcndungen, oxidativer Stress, Stoffwechselst\u00f6rungen, epigenetische Faktoren und verschiedene nicht genetische Risikofaktoren (Umweltverschmutzung, Rauchen, Ern\u00e4hrung und Lebensstil) beteiligt sind. Derzeit sind Statine die wichtigsten Medikamente zur Behandlung der Atherosklerose, die haupts\u00e4chlich auf der Pr\u00e4vention und Behandlung von Lipidsenkern und Entz\u00fcndungshemmern beruhen. Obwohl Statine weit verbreitet und wirksam sind, gibt es immer mehr Hinweise darauf, dass die langfristige Einnahme von Statinen zu zahlreichen schwerwiegenden unerw\u00fcnschten Wirkungen wie Lebersch\u00e4den, Muskeltoxizit\u00e4t und Magen-Darm-Reizungen f\u00fchren kann. Daher besteht ein dringender Bedarf an der Entwicklung alternativer Medikamente f\u00fcr die Behandlung von Atherosklerose.<br \/>\nIn den letzten Jahren haben Naturarzneimittel wegen ihrer relativ geringen Toxizit\u00e4t gro\u00dfe Aufmerksamkeit bei der Pr\u00e4vention oder Behandlung von Atherosklerose erhalten. Naturarzneimittel sind alle aus der Natur stammenden Arzneimittel mit eindeutiger therapeutischer Wirkung, darunter Wirkstoffe aus Pflanzen, Tieren, Mineralien und Mikroorganismen. Noch wichtiger ist, dass einige nat\u00fcrliche Arzneimittelextrakte oder -monomere wie Panax-Notoginseng-Saponine, Gynostemma-Pentaphyllum-Saponine, Wogonin, Rosmarins\u00e4ure usw. eine entz\u00fcndungshemmende, antioxidative und apoptosehemmende Rolle spielen k\u00f6nnen, indem sie TLR4\/SYK, NF-\u03ba B, p38 MAPK, Bcl-2\/Bax und andere Signalwege regulieren und so Atherosklerose behandeln.
