De t\u00f8rrede r\u00f8dder og st\u00e6ngler bruges til at give n\u00e6ring til yin og qi, styrke nyrerne og fugte lungerne. Forskning har vist, at Polygonatum sibiricum ud\u00f8ver farmakologiske effekter som antitumor, anti-aging og immunregulering gennem polysaccharider, flavonoider, saponiner, lignaner, aminosyrer og flygtige olier. If\u00f8lge litteraturen er udbyttet af totale flavonoider i Polygonatum sibiricum produceret i Acheng, Heilongjiang, lavere end udbyttet af Polygonatum sibiricum produceret i Jiuhua Mountain, Anhui, og h\u00f8jere end udbyttet af Polygonatum sibiricum produceret i Baise, Guangxi og Lincang, Yunnan. Den mest indflydelsesrige faktor p\u00e5 udbyttet i multifaktoranalysen er den anvendte m\u00e6ngde cellulase, hvilket indikerer, at v\u00e6gnedbrydningshastigheden for Polygonatum sibiricum er direkte proportional med opl\u00f8sningen af dens flavonoider. I mods\u00e6tning til Huangjing-afkog fra Tongji Tang fra Guizhou National Pharmaceutical Group og Tongrentang fra Beijing i Bozhou best\u00e5r Huangjing-flavonoiderne produceret i Shaanxi hovedsageligt af quercetin-dihydrat og baicalein, som begge har gode anti-tumor- og antioxidanteffekter.
