LSD1 kan aktivere eller h\u00e6mme gentranskription ved at katalysere oxidationsreaktioner med flavin-adenin-dinukleotid (FAD) og specifikt fjerne de enkelte og dobbelte methylgrupper af histonlysin H3K4 og H3K9.
