Det betragtes som et vigtigt led i udviklingen af kliniske l\u00e6sioner og er t\u00e6t forbundet med udviklingen af skrumpelever og leverkr\u00e6ft. Dysreguleringen af tarm-lever-aksen i NASH-progressionen spiller en vigtig rolle i formidlingen af inflammatoriske reaktioner. Skader p\u00e5 tarmbarrieren f\u00e5r metaboliske endotoksiner til at blive transporteret til leveren gennem \"tarm-lever-aksen\", hvilket f\u00f8rer til leverbet\u00e6ndelse. Ikke-kodende mikroRNA'er (miRNA'er) er en klasse af nukleotidsekvenser, der ikke koder for proteiner, men som kan h\u00e6mme genekspressionen ved at m\u00e5lrette 3'UTR'en af m\u00e5lgenets mRNA. MiRNA'er er involveret i n\u00e6sten alle fysiologiske og patologiske processer. miRNA'er kan aktivere MAPK-signalvejen ved at m\u00e5lrette mod inflammationsrelaterede gener, s\u00e5som miR-106 lavt udtryk, der medierer oxidativ stressskade og inflammatorisk infiltration i leveren hos gravide hypertensive mus. Gennem luciferase-reportergenanalyse blev det konstateret, at miR-106a regulerer m\u00e5lspecificiteten for Th17-transkriptionsfaktoren Ror og den aktiverede T-celle (Nfat) nukleare faktor 5. Disse resultater tyder p\u00e5, at et lavt udtryk af miR-106 kan formidle udtrykket af relaterede inflammatoriske faktorer og generere inflammatoriske reaktioner.<br \/>\nEuphorbia humifusa Willd. er en plante af Euphorbiaceae-familien og Euphorbiaceae-sl\u00e6gten. Den bruges ofte til behandling af bakteriel dysenteri, gastroenteritis, h\u00e6moptyse, rektal bl\u00f8dning og andre sygdomme. Moderne farmakologi har vist, at Dijincao indeholder forskellige aktive ingredienser, s\u00e5som polyfenoler, flavonoider, alkaloider og triterpenoider, som har antiinflammatoriske, antioxidante, lipids\u00e6nkende, hypoglyk\u00e6miske og bakteriostatiske virkninger. I dette fors\u00f8g blev en kortvarig fedtfattig di\u00e6t (HFD) kombineret med dextransulfatnatrium (DSS) anvendt p\u00e5 dyreniveau til at etablere en NASH-musemodel (HFD+DSS). DSS er en type dyremodel, der kan skade tarmbarrieren hos mus, og som ofte bruges til at fremkalde colitis.
