Det er en fler\u00e5rig, krybende og rodf\u00e6stet urt, der er vidt udbredt i provinser som Guangdong, Guangxi og Yunnan. Den har en lang historie som medicinsk og spiselig plante i Kina. Falsk konjak har en skarp smag og en varm natur. Den kan fjerne vind og kulde, fremme qi og lindre smerter. N\u00e5r den bruges som rodmedicin, kan den bruges til at behandle sygdomme som s\u00e5r, h\u00e6velser og toksiner, gigt, knoglesmerter, traumatiske skader og fork\u00f8lelseshoste. Liu isolerede og identificerede fire alkaloider med varierende grader af h\u00e6mmende aktivitet mod Cryptococcus neoformans fra 70%-methanolekstraktet af hele planten af falsk konjac.<br \/>\nSammenfattende er det kendt, at der er antibakterielle aktive strukturelle komponenter i falsk konjac, og tidligere unders\u00f8gelser har bekr\u00e6ftet, at alkaloidforbindelserne i falsk konjac har et stort potentiale for antibakteriel aktivitet.
