Da forekomsten af T2DM forts\u00e6tter med at stige, er det blevet den tredje kroniske sygdom, der truer menneskers sundhed i verden. Desuden er forekomsten og udbredelsen blandt unge mennesker stigende p\u00e5 verdensplan. T2DM er en gruppe af metaboliske sygdomme, og langvarig hyperglyk\u00e6mi kan for\u00e5rsage oxidativ stress og skade p\u00e5 flere organer. Under oxidative stressforhold produceres unormale cytokiner i miltv\u00e6vet, hvilket f\u00f8rer til miltforst\u00f8rrelse og fibrose, hvilket resulterer i miltskader hos patienter.
