Denne sygdom inddeles generelt i to kategorier: akut og kronisk. Ekspressionen af mRNA og protein i rotternes lungev\u00e6v i hver gruppe blev p\u00e5vist ved hj\u00e6lp af immunhistokemi, fluorescens-kvantitativ PCR og Western blot-metoder. Immunhistokemiske resultater viste, at ekspressionsniveauet af VEGF i lungearterierne hos Mod-rotter var h\u00f8jere end hos Con, mens ekspressionsniveauet af PPAR-\u03b1 var lavere end hos Con. Ekspressionsniveauet af VEGF i lungearterierne hos PhGCs low, medium, PhGCs-H og RC-grupper var lavere end hos Mod, mens ekspressionsniveauet af PPAR - \u03b1 steg. Dette indikerer, at PhGC'er og Rhodiola rosea kan h\u00e6mme udtrykket af VEGF induceret af hypoxi, fremme PPAR - \u03b1-ekspression og lindre pulmonal vaskul\u00e6r proliferation og myogenese og dermed spille en terapeutisk rolle i CMS. Gennem eksperimentel m\u00e5ling af udtrykket af HIF-1 \u03b1-protein og mRNA i lungev\u00e6v blev det konstateret, at udtrykket af HIF-1 \u03b1-protein i lungev\u00e6vet hos CMS-modelrotter steg markant, mens udtrykket af mRNA og Con ikke viste nogen forskel.
