Plantning af planter af Lespedeza-sl\u00e6gten kan normalt bruges til at forhindre jorderosion. Der findes 25 arter af Lespedeza-planter i Kina. Nogle typer bruges som traditionelle l\u00e6geurter, f.eks. den bladsk\u00e6rende jernkost (almindeligvis kendt som Lespedeza cuneta), som l\u00e6nge har v\u00e6ret brugt i traditionel kinesisk medicin til at behandle dysenteri og hepatitis og til at beskytte lever, nyrer og lunger. Forbindelserne 1-4 og 6-9 blev fundet i l\u00e6geplanten L. cuneta, hvilket tyder p\u00e5 et t\u00e6t genetisk forhold mellem dv\u00e6rg-Lespedeza og L. cuneta. Derudover blev forbindelserne 1-10 screenet for antiinflammatorisk aktivitet, hvoraf 8 og 10 henholdsvis kan h\u00e6mme mRNA-ekspressionen af de inflammatoriske faktorer IL-6 og IL-1 \u03b2, hvilket viser en vis antiinflammatorisk aktivitet. Flavonoider er en vigtig klasse af antiinflammatoriske forbindelser. Relaterede unders\u00f8gelser har vist, at forbindelserne 1-4 og 6-9 kan ud\u00f8ve antiinflammatoriske virkninger gennem forskellige signalveje.
