Den har en s\u00f8d og mild smag og er registreret i farmakop\u00e9en som havende en virkning, der lindrer depression, beroliger sindet, fremmer blodcirkulationen og reducerer h\u00e6velser. J8 er en af saponinerne, og molekyl\u00e6r docking og in vitro molekyl\u00e6r detektion har vist, at J8 kan binde sig til VEGF og derved h\u00e6mme spredningen af endotelceller.<br \/>\nModerne molekyl\u00e6r og cellul\u00e6r farmakologisk forskning tyder p\u00e5, at signaltransduktionen af celleapoptose kan opdeles i to veje: eksogene og endogene (mitokondrielle) veje. Den eksogene apoptosevej formidles af apoptosereceptorer som TNF-a, TRAIL og FAS-L. Fas-L binder sig til FAS ved at rekruttere og forbinde FADD for at igangs\u00e6tte celleapoptose. Mitokondrier er det regulerende center for endogen celleapoptose, som kan opdeles i Caspase-afh\u00e6ngige og ikke Caspase-afh\u00e6ngige apoptotiske signalveje baseret p\u00e5 de forskellige signalveje. FADD-binding til Caspase-8 kan f\u00f8re til dimerisering af Caspase-8, dvs. aktivering. Aktiveret Caspase-8 genaktiverer Caspase-3\/9 og inducerer celleapoptose.
