Forskning har vist, at honningsvamp har beskyttende virkninger p\u00e5 hjerte-kar- og cerebrovaskul\u00e6re systemer, leverbeskyttelse, blodsukkers\u00e6nkning, immunforbedring, beroligende hypnotikum, antitumor, antibakteriel, antiinflammatorisk, antioxidant og andre funktioner. Det er en kinesisk urtemedicin med potentiale for udvikling og anvendelse. Blandt dem blev 19 forbindelser, herunder 5-13, 16, 18-26, isoleret fra honningsvamp for f\u00f8rste gang. Opdagelsen af disse komponenter hj\u00e6lper med at forst\u00e5 de metaboliske produkter, der produceres af honningsvampen i forskellige dele. Hovedkomponenterne i dens fermenteringsbouillon er fedtsyrer og deres estere samt alkaloider, mens hovedkomponenterne i dens mycelium er fedtsyrer og deres estere, steroider og fenoler.
