Forsythia suspensa bruges ofte i traditionel kinesisk medicinbehandling og har farmakologiske virkninger som antibakterielle, antiinflammatoriske og kr\u00e6fth\u00e6mmende egenskaber. I henhold til frugtens modenhed og h\u00f8sttidspunkt kan Forsythia suspensa opdeles i gr\u00f8n Forsyth iae Fructus (GF) og moden Forsythiae Fructus (RF).
