Den vokser p\u00e5 gr\u00e6skl\u00e6dte skr\u00e5ninger og under skove i 350-2500 meters dybde og er hovedsageligt udbredt i Hunan, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi og andre regioner. Den h\u00f8stes om sommeren eller efter\u00e5ret, vasket, t\u00f8rret eller frisk. If\u00f8lge Qing-dynastiets \"Wentang Collection Verification Formula\" og \"National Compilation of Chinese Herbal Medicines\" er Wuling Gentiana, ogs\u00e5 kendt som Jiutouqing, og \"Chinese Materia Medica\", ogs\u00e5 kendt som jordlotus, blevet registreret i forskellige etniske medicinb\u00f8ger. Blandt dem blev 7, 14 og 15 isoleret fra Gentiana scabra for f\u00f8rste gang, mens de resterende forbindelser blev isoleret fra Gentiana scabra for f\u00f8rste gang. Triterpenoider er vigtige komponenter i Gentiana-planter, hvor oleanan- og usurian-typerne af pentacykliske triterpenoider er de mest almindelige. De har antiinflammatoriske, antibakterielle, immunmodulerende og hepatobeskyttende virkninger og er medicinske stoffer i Gentiana-planter. Gennem screening af antiinflammatorisk aktivitet blev det konstateret, at den isolerede oleanolsyre og ursolsyre fra Wuling Gentiana har en vis antiinflammatorisk aktivitet, som er de farmakologiske stoffer i Wuling Gentianas antiinflammatoriske aktivitet.
