Tidlige kliniske manifestationer af Alzheimers sygdom omfatter sv\u00e6kket korttidshukommelse, som gradvist forv\u00e6rres og ledsages af flere funktionelle sv\u00e6kkelser som sprog, kognition, orientering og d\u00f8mmekraft, hvilket i alvorlig grad p\u00e5virker patienternes daglige evner og endda bringer deres liv i fare. Den h\u00f8je fejlrate i de nuv\u00e6rende kliniske fors\u00f8g med AD-l\u00e6gemiddelkandidater tjener som en advarsel om, at vi er n\u00f8dt til at st\u00e5 over for vanskeligheder og udfordringer i forbindelse med screening af potentielle aktive ingredienser til anti-AD-l\u00e6gemidler. N\u00e5r man analyserer den nuv\u00e6rende situation, er der stadig nogle problemer med screening og klinisk anvendelse af naturlige anti-AD-aktive ingredienser.
