If\u00f8lge \"Compendium of Materia Medica\" kan r\u00f8dder, st\u00e6ngler, blade og hele kroppen af Yanfu-tr\u00e6 bruges som medicin til at behandle og forebygge sygdomme som diarr\u00e9, dysenteri, kolik, hepatitis osv. I \u00f8jeblikket bruges afkoget af Yanfu-tr\u00e6ets r\u00f8dder mest i klinisk praksis til behandling af koronar hjertesygdom, angina pectoris, lungeabsces og kronisk diarr\u00e9 hos b\u00f8rn. Forskning har vist, at den kemiske sammens\u00e6tning af Rhus chinensis hovedsageligt omfatter lignin, flavonoider, fenoler, triterpener osv. I \u00f8jeblikket fokuserer forskningen hovedsageligt p\u00e5 Rhus chinensis' r\u00f8dder, mens der kun er forsket lidt i Rhus chinensis' blade. Forbindelserne 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, 13 og 15 blev isoleret fra saltbarkplanter for f\u00f8rste gang. Resultaterne af in vitro-antioxidantaktivitetseksperimenter viste, at forbindelserne 9, 10, 11 og 14 udviste god rensningsaktivitet mod DPPH- og ABTS-frie radikaler, mens forbindelse 6 viste god rensningsaktivitet mod ABTS-frie radikaler. Blandt dem havde forbindelserne 9 og 10 den st\u00e6rkeste rensningsaktivitet for frie radikaler, st\u00e6rkere end den positive kontrol VC. Yderligere analyse af strukturerne af forbindelser med antioxidantaktivitet afsl\u00f8rede, at forbindelse 11 er lignin, mens de resterende forbindelser 6, 9, 10 og 14 tilh\u00f8rer polyfenoliske forbindelser. Derfor spekuleres der i, at polyfenoliske forbindelser er de vigtigste aktive ingredienser i in vitro-antioxidantaktiviteten af saltbarkblade.
